“Looking Back: How I Opened Two Online Classes on CLASS101—With Some Behind-the-Scenes Stories”

Recently, while sorting through some old files, I remembered a project that still holds a special place in my heart.
A few years ago, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the chance to create two online courses for the Korean platform CLASS101.
The first was:

Using Adobe Illustrator and Clip Studio, I taught over 40 lessons on body drawing, line work tips, and my coloring style.
Later, I released a simpler follow-up course using only Clip Studio:

At the time, the world was overwhelmed by anxiety and fear. When CLASS101 reached out to me, it truly felt like a light appeared in front of me.
An idea born from adversity—learning and creating from home.
I felt lucky and grateful to join the project from Japan.
Of course, I had no experience teaching or making videos. Zero.Just fear.
Behind-the-Scenes I Can Share Now
I’ve been self-taught in my career—both a strength and a weakness.
To be honest, it felt like a disadvantage when making these courses.
I had no confidence—so much so that I was confident in my lack of confidence.
And yet…
If someone could watch and think:
“If you can do it, maybe I can too”—
that possibility gave me courage.
There was no manual, no model to follow.
Just me.
The staff at CLASS101 supported and encouraged me, and somehow, we brought two full courses to life.
The feedback from students afterward also became a valuable learning experience for me.
Even now, I think: “Yeah, I really did that.”
And I want to keep trying things, regardless of age.
If something calls to me, I’ll give it a go.
Both courses are still available on CLASS101 (as of July 2025).
There are many other wonderful classes too—take a look!
