I'm Takako, a freelance illustrator.

On this page, you'll find information about my illustration styles and the process from request to delivery. It's a bit long, but I hope you'll take a moment to read through it. I'd be truly grateful.

          About My Illustration Styles

I specialize in illustration styles tailored to suit different age groups and target audiences — including fashion illustrations, family-themed visuals, and simple, clean styles.

Many of my clients are companies seeking illustrations for women’s products, beauty, and fashion-related materials.Recently, I’ve also received more commissions aimed at men, seniors, and family-oriented audiences.

Currently, my illustration styles can be broadly categorized as follows:

Fashion Style – vibrant and full of color

Fashion Line Art – stylish illustrations created with clean, expressive linework

Crayon Style – known for its rough, organic lines and hand-crafted look

ree

Simple Touch – a versatile and stylish style with clean lines and minimal detail

I also create illustrations in monochrome, as well as illustrations of materials, small items, and animals.

These illustration styles are widely used across various fields, including spot illustrations and key visuals for books, book covers, advertisements, newspapers, websites, and more.

I listen carefully to each client's needs and offer proposals that aim to meet their expectations.Whether it's a one-time project or a long-term contract, I can respond flexibly to suit your needs.

Workflow & Project Process

For Inquiries & Project RequestsPlease feel free to contact me through this [form] ☞ CONTACT for any questions or project consultations.

When making a request, providing the following details will help ensure a smooth communication

process:

  • Your company name / Contact person / Contact information

  • Budget

  • Purpose of the illustration(Preferred illustration style, number of pieces, size, number of colors, media/platform for use, usage period)

  • Schedule (Rough draft deadline / Final delivery date)

The more detailed the information, the better I can understand the scope and scale of the project. If you're unsure about any items, it's perfectly fine to leave them blank.Thank you for your cooperation!

Before Starting the ProjectTo avoid any misunderstandings or miscommunication, I kindly ask all clients to complete the official "Project Agreement Form" issued by the organization I belong to (Illustrators Tsushin).

I apologize for the extra step, but please review the form, sign and return it via email attachment.

            About Illustration Fees

As a general rule, I begin discussions after confirming your budget.

Please note that if I provide an estimate based on industry-standard illustrator rates, the fee may be higher than expected.

If you are able to share a maximum budget, it will help the process go more smoothly and allow me to make a proposal that better fits your needs. Please feel free to reach out.

I generally do not accept full buyout requests (I do not take on projects that require copyright transfer as a condition). If a buyout is necessary, a corresponding fee will be applied.

For secondary usage, an additional fee of 30–50% will be charged, depending on the case.

Please note that I assume the right to publicly showcase completed work as part of my portfolio. If public display is not allowed, an additional fee may be applied. This is because portfolio use plays an important role in my promotional activities.

Rough Sketch and Final Artwork

Once the rough sketch is completed, we will share it with you for review. If any revisions are necessary, please provide your feedback at this stage.

We can accommodate minor adjustments during the final artwork phase (such as color tweaks),however, significant revisions may incur additional charges.

Please note that if multiple revisions are required—regardless of whether it's during the rough or final phase—and they are not due to our mistake, additional fees may apply.

In such cases, we will inform you of any extra charges in advance and proceed with the work only upon your approval.

Delivery of Final Illustration Data

Once the final illustration is completed, the data will be delivered either as an email attachment or uploaded to an online platform, in the format you specified in advance.

Please check the delivered data to ensure there are no issues.

As a general rule, revisions are not accepted after delivery. If revisions are absolutely necessary, they will incur an additional fee. Thank you for your understanding.

             Delivery and Payment

Once the final illustration data is completed, I will issue an invoice (sent via postal mail or email attachment).

Please make payment by the specified due date.In accordance with the new Japanese Freelancer Law, payment is required within 60 days from the delivery date.

※ Under the new Freelancer Law, the "delivery date" refers to the date I submit the work, not the date when the client completes internal review or deems the work accepted. Treating the latter as the official delivery date may conflict with the intent of the law.For smooth collaboration, I kindly ask that we align on the schedule and confirmation process in advance.

Bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the client.

I would also greatly appreciate it if you could kindly send a sample of the final product. It will be carefully kept for reference and to help guide future projects.

About Meetings and Communication

s a general rule, I kindly ask that we communicate via email in order to prevent any miscommunication or issues.

If a phone call or in-person meeting is necessary, I am available to meet in or around the Tokyo area. Please feel free to consult with me in advance if this is the case.(After any in-person or phone meeting, I would appreciate it if the details could also be confirmed in writing via email.)

I try to reply within 3 days, but if you do not receive a response, please contact me directly at:📩 rum-ice@cafe.nifty.jp

Thank you very much for reading through this long page.If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out.I look forward to the opportunity to work together with you.
