This guide covers the process from inquiry to delivery, along with copyright, usage, revisions, and additional uses.
Please review it before commissioning a project.
COMMISSION GUIDE
01 Inquiry & Consultation
Please feel free to get in touch using the contact form or by email.
Share any details you have about your project, the look and feel you have in mind, intended use, preferred timeline, and budget. This will help me provide guidance tailored to your needs.
02 Fees & Copyright
As a general rule, artwork is licensed exclusively to a single company, individual, organization, local authority, or other entity.
Fees and licensing terms vary depending on the scope of the project, the media involved, and the extent of use. Please review the details below.
Copyright
Copyright and moral rights in the illustrations created generally remain with the illustrator.
If the standard terms are not suitable for a particular project, alternative arrangements may be proposed depending on the circumstances.
Portfolio Use
I will showcase commissioned work on this website, social media, and other portfolio channels. Please let me know in advance if the work cannot be shared publicly.
Prohibited Uses
Claiming the artwork as your own creation, redistributing it, using it for AI training, or making extensive edits or alterations is not permitted. Any other use that infringes copyright is also prohibited.
03 Project Confirmation
I’ll prepare a Project Confirmation outlining the project details, usage rights, fees, and schedule. Work will begin once both parties have reviewed and confirmed these terms. ※The sample is in Japanese. I’ll prepare a Project Confirmation based on our discussions, with an English version provided for international clients.
04 Project Discussion
We’ll discuss your ideas and preferences by email to establish the creative direction.
Sharing reference materials or visual examples helps make this process smoother.
Online meetings are also available.
05 Sketches & Revisions
-
I’ll submit sketches for you to review the overall look and composition.
-
The process generally allows for up to two or three rounds of revisions.
-
Major changes, repeated revisions beyond this scope, or additional requests will incur extra fees.
06 Final Artwork & Delivery
-
Once the sketches are approved, I’ll proceed with the final artwork.
-
Files will be delivered in your preferred format, such as JPEG, PNG, or PSD.
-
Digital delivery is standard.
-
The creation fee remains payable even if you decide not to use the artwork after delivery.
07 Usage Period & Renewal
-
In principle, we kindly ask that the illustration be used within the agreed usage period.
-
Please contact me separately if you would like to extend the usage period or expand the scope of use.
-
I’m also happy to discuss ongoing use and license renewals.
08 Payment
An invoice will be issued after delivery.
As a general rule, payment is due within 60 days of the delivery date.
Bank transfer is the standard payment method.
※Please cover any bank transfer fees.
Samples of the Finished Project
Where possible, I would appreciate a sample of the finished project featuring the artwork, either as a physical copy or a PDF.
For websites, e-books, and other digital publications, please share the published URL.
I’ll keep these samples as a valuable reference for future work. Thank you for your help.
